Phonetic analysis
Latvian is derived from the Proto-Indo European linguistic family. It originated from the Balto-Slavic languages which then progressed into the Eastern Baltic language which formed Latvian. There are thirty three letters in the Latvian alphabet. Latvian orthography is based loosely off of the Latin alphabet and German phonetic processes. Their alphabet differs to the English alphabet due to the inflected nature of the language.
